Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2024

Look, we get it - nobody actually enjoys reading these things. But since we're asking you to trust us with your info when you reach out about a project or browse our work, we figured we owe you some transparency about what happens with your data.

What We Actually Collect

When you contact us or fill out a form on our site, we'll grab the basics - your name, email, phone number if you share it, and whatever details you tell us about your project. We're not running some elaborate data harvesting operation here. We literally just need this stuff to, y'know, get back to you and understand what you're looking for.

Our website also picks up standard technical info like your IP address and browser type through cookies. Nothing creepy - just the usual web analytics so we can see if our site's actually working properly and where folks are visiting from.

How We Use Your Information

Pretty straightforward stuff:

  • Responding to your inquiries (that's the main one)
  • Sending project proposals and keeping you updated on work we're doing together
  • Occasionally sharing news about our studio if you've said that's cool
  • Improving our website so it doesn't suck
  • Meeting legal requirements because, well, we have to

We don't sell your info to anyone. Period. We're architects, not data brokers.

Who Sees Your Data

Mostly just us - the team here at Pyrest Halquintar. Sometimes we'll need to share info with:

  • Contractors and consultants when we're working on your project together
  • Our accountant and legal advisors (because taxes and regulations exist)
  • Cloud service providers who host our files - but they're bound by confidentiality agreements
  • Authorities if legally required, though that's never actually happened

Cookies & Tracking

Yeah, we use cookies. Not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately. These are small files that help our site remember your preferences and let us see how people navigate around. You can disable them in your browser settings if you want, though some parts of the site might act a bit wonky without 'em. We're using Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns - nothing intrusive, just helpful data about what's working and what isn't.

Your Rights

Since we're based in Canada, you've got rights under PIPEDA and other privacy laws. Here's what you can do:

  • Ask to see what personal info we have on you
  • Request corrections if something's wrong
  • Tell us to delete your data (though we might need to keep some stuff for legal reasons)
  • Opt out of marketing emails - there's an unsubscribe link in every message
  • File a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner if you think we've messed up

How Long We Keep Stuff

We'll hang onto your personal info only as long as we need it. Active project files stay with us during the work and for seven years after completion - that's standard practice in our industry and covers us legally. If you just made an inquiry and we never worked together, we'll typically clear that out after a couple years. Marketing lists get cleaned up regularly to remove folks who haven't engaged in ages.

Security Measures

We take reasonable precautions to protect your data - encrypted connections, secure servers, password protection, the works. That said, nothing's 100% bulletproof online. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If there's ever a breach that affects your info, we'll let you know ASAP and tell you what we're doing about it.

Third-Party Links

Sometimes we'll link to other websites - suppliers, partners, whatever. Once you click through to their site, you're playing by their privacy rules, not ours. We can't control what they do, so it's worth checking out their policies if you're concerned.

Changes to This Policy

We might update this privacy policy from time to time as our practices evolve or laws change. When we do, we'll update the date at the top and post the new version here. For major changes, we'll probably send an email to folks on our contact list. It's worth checking back occasionally if you're curious.

Questions?

If something here doesn't make sense or you've got concerns about how we handle your info, just reach out. Seriously - we're happy to chat about it.
